Tata Play vs Dish TV: Which New Connection Should You Take?

This is the comparison most people are really making, and the honest starting point is that at SATITV the two are closer than the advertising suggests: same price, same package, same balance-back arrangement.

So what actually differs?

Not the money, and not what arrives at your door. What differs is the platform itself: the pack structure, the regional channel line-ups and the add-ons each operator offers. Those change often enough that any number printed on a page like this would be out of date within months, which is why we do not print them - check the current packs on the operator's own site, or call us on 9729991794 and we will talk you through what suits your viewing.

One practical difference worth knowing: the MRP differs (Rs 9,210 against Rs 6,600), which tells you something about how each package is normally priced - but at SATITV you pay Rs 3,600 either way, and either way it all comes back as balance.

How the balance works, on both

You pay Rs 3,600 and the whole amount is credited to your account with that operator as viewing balance. The box, dish, LNB, remote, cabling and installation therefore cost you nothing extra - you are pre-paying for television you were going to watch. Your monthly pack then draws from that balance: a pack of roughly Rs 300 a month runs for about a year, a lighter pack longer, a premium pack faster.

What if I want no monthly cost at all?

Then neither of these is the right answer, and DD Free Dish is - fewer channels, no premium content, but no recharge ever. Compare them properly on DD Free Dish vs paid DTH.

Refunds, stated plainly

Installation is the point of no refund - once a connection is installed and activated, the service has been delivered. Before installation, if you cancel from your side and we were able to provide the service, 12% is deducted for TDR and service charges and the balance is refunded. If SATITV cannot provide the service at your location, you are refunded 100% with nothing deducted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Tata Play better than Dish TV?

Neither is better in general. At SATITV both are Rs 3,600, both include the box, dish, LNB, remote, cabling and free installation, and both credit the full amount back as viewing balance. Choose on which platform's packs and channels suit your household.

Why is the MRP different if the price is the same?

The two packages are normally priced differently by the operators - Rs 9,210 against Rs 6,600. At SATITV you pay Rs 3,600 for either, and either way the full amount returns as viewing balance.

Can I switch from one to the other later?

They are separate platforms with separate hardware, so switching means taking a new connection on the other platform rather than converting an existing one.

Do both include the dish antenna?

Yes. Both include the HD set-top box, the dish antenna, the LNB, the remote and all cabling for a standard installation.

How much do I pay online?

Rs 399 as the booking advance. The balance is paid at your doorstep when the connection is delivered and installed.

Is the connection in my name?

Yes, on both. It is activated in your name at the time of installation, so the account and the viewing balance belong to you.

Are the remotes interchangeable?

No. Each platform needs its own remote - a Tata Play remote for a Tata Play box, a Dish TV remote for a Dish TV box.
